I was having the same belief too in the past until I got it crushed. Allow me to share with you my journey from having a belief about Being an Introvert a bad thing to today, I am happy and proud to be an introvert.
Hey, this is Bryan. If you are reading this right now, then I am also an Introvert just like you.
Before I know there is a term called Introvert exists, I always think that I somehow got some problem inside me as people always label me as anti-social, quiet, I don’t communicate much and shy. Even got once, I got boycott by a colleague as I always pack my lunch and doesn’t join them for lunch. In fact, I am not anti-social, the main reason is that I want to save money. Even in the later stage in other company, those colleagues that closed to me also commented that I am anti-social All these make me feel that I am something wrong, something need to be fixed and unhappy.
Then one day, I got to know about this magic word “Introvert” from Susan Cain’s Ted X presentation. The first feeling was RELIEF. That moment was a joyful one and I got to know that there are a lot of people just like me. I am perfectly NORMAL. Then I started to have a huge interest in knowing more about this magic word “Introvert”, I started to join FB Groups, buy books, and watch videos that relate to Introvert. Eventually, I became the moderator and soon admin for one of the biggest Introvert Group in FB.
From my joining of FB Groups, I can see some of our own people, struggle in life to find happiness, hate themselves being an Introvert, some even asked how to become an Extrovert, struggle in both personal and professional life due to some of our Introverts’ characteristics. In fact, I was struggling too. But you know what, the good news is this belief is only true to us, it is our own opinion, not a fact.
Fast forward to today, I see introversion as a gift, and I am proud and happy to become one. All these make possible because it is my new belief, and the old limiting belief that I hold on to is no longer valid in my life.
A few years ago, I joined a program called Patterns of Excellence and it opens up my mind to life-changing skills called NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming. I love it, and it is very interesting to understand human behaviors, beliefs, values, and so on. This is my first introduction to what is Belief is all about. And then I attended an NLP Practitioner Certification workshop (certified under ABNLP) where I see and experience how by crushing the limiting beliefs, by crushing my limiting beliefs, it can give us a new and better life.
